Welcome to Great Lumley Community Centre, a community facility in the heart of Great Lumley. Having first opened in 1971, we are proud to be serving our community all these decades later.
Our aim is to 'improve the health and wellbeing of our village by sustaining a vibrant and varied range of services and facilities from a Centre which is fit for purpose, meets the needs of Great Lumley’s community, and adds value to everyone’s lives'.
We have a range of activities and classes, details of which can be found under 'What's On' and have rooms available for private hire, more details provided under 'Room Hire'.
The Community Centre employs a small team of dedicated staff, who together with the Management Committee and volunteers, work hard to keep our Centre running. We are always on the look out for new volunteers, if you feel you may be able to help then do please contact us.

Covering holidays and sickness on an ad hoc basis.

Gym
Wellness on Wheels (WoW) was a Durham County Council initiative and saw a mobile fitness trailer travel across the region. From this sprang, Legacy Gyms, which created a permanent opportunity for people to take part in physical activities. Our gym is one such Legacy Gym.
You can book an induction by ringing, 0191 388 5744 or calling in and speaking to a member of our team.
Our Gym hours are:
Monday - Friday 9:00am - 9:00pm
Saturday 9:00am - 4:30pm
Sunday 9:00am - 2:00pm
Last admission 30mins before closing. Under 16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Membership Costs:
Annual: £140
Monthly (no contract): £20
Daily (no contract): £3
Reductions for over 65s and under 18s
Cafe
Our Cafe is open seven days a week serving hot food, light snacks, cakes and refreshments at very reasonable prices. Check out our Facebook page for 'Daily Specials' and keep a look out for special events, such as Sunday Lunch or Christmas Dinner.
Our Cafe hours are:
Monday - Friday 9:00am - 9:00pm (hot food only served until 1:45pm)
Saturday 9:00-4:30pm (hot food served until 1:45pm)
